MylesBring your rain gear because the workout is:

Run 5 km

Our route is:

  • out the door and through the parking lot to Des Meurons
  • turn right (North) on Des Meurons
  • turn left (West) on De Cathedrale (second street on your left)
  • run to the end of De Cathedrale and turn left (South) on Tache
  • turn left (East) on Dollard
  • run to Louis Riel Street
  • turn around and retrace your steps back to the gym!

View a map of the route at: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2853172

If you have time after your workout practice handstands and/or pullups with the coach.

If there is some reason you should not run, rowing will be an option.

Hey Kimberly, Thanks for the heads-up!

I’ll be running in the AM – probably at 8…. and I may or may not be pushing Oliver for this one.

My running partner (2 year old Yellow Lab) will love it, and drag me with him for an extra few ks I am sure.

I really like our 5k route! I might rejig it a bit to see some more of the old St. B architecture, but as it is it’s a nice simple run through one of Winnipeg’s nicer areas.

Hit a new personal best at 21:05. I think to get under 20:00 this summer I’m going to need to enter a race. Anybody interested in joining me?

Or maybe we could just set up our own race….

B-Mac and B, nice times! I hate running but I am glad I did it. 27.20, which sadly is a PB for me. Great route and the rain was nice to run in.

    Brendan

Airforce run next Sat. It has 5/10 KM and a half marathon.

    http://www.airforcerun.ca

Manitoba marathon June 21 has 5/10 Km as well

There are a bunch of other runs all around the province over the summer months. http://www.mraweb.ca/pdf/09AMcalendar.pdf

I’ll be in around 4 for the run although I rather do the CF total that I missed yesterday :)

which 5k race do you plan on doing B?…If I am in town I’d ttly be up for it…Quinns Quest is usually a fun one…

Just a note about your 5k times…if you taper b4 a race..often your race time is faster than your TT or regular training time…I know my race times are always faster if I do a good taper prior to race.

Today was super fun…! Course was great – might have been slightly off…my garmin read 3 miles…and I think 5k is 3.1 miles…Garmin might be off a bit also…

    TIME : 25:13
    PB on TM: 23:49

Well that was my first ever 5k run so I have nothing to compare it to. Loved it though, even running in the rain wasn’t so bad, better that then too hot. My time was just over 31 mins. I agree about the route B. It is a nice place to run through. Wouldn’t mind avoiding Tache as the traffic both car (got splashed a few times) and people wise was a bit heavy.

    Did it in 23:35

Had to make 1 quick stop for my running partner to do some “business”… once I pout the leash on him he definetly made my pace much faster than it would nornmally be. Is that cheating? ;)

Erika…you should be proud of yourself…for someone that doesn’t run very often…that is a really good time…just over a 10 minute mile is a great pace…I know a lot runners that still cannot run at that pace…

I agree E, I remember the days when you could not run the full 800m, now you did a 30m 5k! That is an amazing accomplishment!

Running with a dog isn’t cheating, it is performance enhancement. :) Good pace with Tia pulling me, trying to get Kyle as he passed me.

    @Tapout
Thanks, I really didn’t have anything to compare that to so I didn’t know if it was a good time or not. And yes, M. I do remember when I couldn’t run 800m so it feels pretty good to have accomplished 5k this morning. Thanks for the encouragement.

Woohoo…my fist time crashing on the new floor, I didn’t think rowing 5k was possible, now I want to do it again to beat my time :)

29:41 not my PB, but happy I didn’t use any inhalers to do this despite sinus recovery & allergies. Happy with handstand p-up progress, down to 2 abmats!
Way to give’er, E! We’re superproud of you! MLC, your improvement is awesome, don’t sweat it!
    (@ B: I’m in for some racing)
