CrossFit is not just an activity I do, it has been a fantastic lifestyle change for me and I can’t see ever going back. Heavy Deadlift 360# (PR by 20#)
Tabata’s Squats 143 (Legs sore from this week)
Will be back in pm to do WOD…..looking forward to it
September 4, 2009 at 4:26 pm
WOD: 9:34 as Rx’d
Ring Dips killed me, burnt out after one round of them, need to work on them………
September 4, 2009 at 5:34 pm
I will start by saying how much I LOVE the fact that one day at CF you can kill a wod, feel great about it and even maybe PR…(that was yesterday for me)…and then the next day you get your ass ttly kicked by a wod and feel completely humbled (that was today)…
My intention today was to not to do it for time…but more so to work on some of my weaknesses…all 3 of the exercises today are weaknesses…I am feeling chatty so you can either bare with me or move on the next comment…hahaha…
Things I have realized in the last while at CFW:
1) My strengths are pulling, lifting and squatting
2) I am mediocre at pushing and pressing (I think I have the some unused strength in this area…but need to work on technical stuff and gain confidence to improve)
3) My weakness is definitely lifting my lower body and gymnastics stuff
Results on today’s wod:
First 3 rounds – toes to bar or almost – RX pull up – toe push ups (pink band was in use)
Rnd 4 and 5 – toes not very close to bar – pink band pull ups – knee push ups
TIME: 18:21
NOTE: I will be blogging something tomorrow on this site and would appreciate anyone that is willing to spend some of their precious time reading my blog. The blog will be titled MY BIGGEST DEMON – I NEED YOUR HELP
Cheers
Me.

ooops…another thing i should ad in my ‘mediocre’ section is speed…I don’t feel I am very strong when it comes to speed but I don’t feel it is a weakness…whether it be during a metcon or running…I think I do hold back a bit.
I have an endurance background and I still have a tendancy to spread my energy equally to ensure I have gas in the tank to the end…ALL EFFORTS are something i need to work on….
September 4, 2009 at 6:17 pm
oooops again… i meant to write ALL OUT EFFORTS…in last comment…promise that’s it for today…no more comments.

A wise man once said “sure you can fraction the reps and make it feel a little easier and still get a good time; or you can not be afraid and get uncomfortable”
Thanks for sharing so much on the blog Nic! It helps me as your coach a lot!!! More pushing and lower body lifting coming your way

Today I did the 1RM deadlift. PR 245#’s, 10#’s heavier then before. It was pretty funny, because at one point I thought I was lifting 260#’s, but Coach B kept it real for me… ‘cuz it was only 225#’s. I got 260 off the ground, but just didn’t commit to it. next time.
WOD, 4 T@B, 8 Pullups, 6 Ring Dips: 14:?? Happy, worked hard those dips are unreal.
Also, I had set a goal for Muscle Ups by January. I’m changing that to the end of September, because I am SO CLOSE!!
@Tapout
I’ll read your blog!!

Well this was a tough wod.
4 Toes to Bar
8 Pullups
12 Jumping ring dips
Time- 11:34
I would have finished quicker but I freaked out a little when my hand ripped in the last round! It’s burning as I’m typing this…lol

I agree… this was TOUGH…….I finished in 1055 RX’d and my pull-ups were brutal. I had no rhythm and think I ended up gutting out dead hangs………I felt sapped today…not a good sleep last night…. did not eat so great today and was working out in the garage at 27 degrees and MOSQUITOS…..
That being said I am glad I sucked it up and went out to the garage and DID IT…….
Oh and thanks to Brad and Brendan for spots on heavy squats the other day….
LOTS of work to do….. but getting better

I totally agree with your assessment and claim about getting your ass handed to you right after a PR or a killer WOD etc. This is what keeps me going at times. Failure (i use that term loosely) is essential. It is essential for growth, learing, and moving forward. So your bang on with ‘liking that’.
I will be reading your blog – this if for sure. I like the way you write and assess.
I would be smitten if you would peak at my blog too – or any one else for that matter – i think you can get to it from clicking my name on here.
Good job Nic.

@Tapout
Thanks for sharing so much Nic. I have pretty much had my ass handed to me this whole week. But again, it just makes the comeback that much sweeter! I am learning that failing is part of succeeding as an athlete. Hard to accept sometimes but it shows you where your growing edge is. My weaknesses seem to be upper body. I am so close to an unassisted pullup but just can’t quite get there. Coordination seems to play a role in trying to kip. The great thing about this place is that we all have our strengths and weaknesses and we all encourage each other to overcome – which we do!
