January 31st, 2010 Turbo

Workout of the Day

5 rounds for max loads:
Power Clean, 3 reps; rest 90s
Max Wattage on Rower; rest 90s
Weighted Chin Ups, 1 rep; rest 90s
* For max wattage on rower the objective is to register the highest # possible in wattage. Take a few warm-up strokes and then start doing power strokes until you feel you have maxed out.

I just noticed someone got Mandy’s pullups on video, so here it is for all to see… Mandy started with us when we moved into the new location on Des Meurons, but over the last couple of months, she’s really stepped it up.  I suspect that her new way of eating, along with her consistent hard work and great attitude, is what got her a spot on the “Chicks who do Chins” board. Congratulations Mandy!

YAH! That was a great day! With coach MLC’s encouragement, I got ‘er done! And a strict one 2 days later.
It was an exciting goal to reach.. and 2 days before my 100th workout with CFW.
CFW rocks and has definitely changed my life for the better. Thanks for the props Turbo!

    Way to go Mandy!! Awesome.

Power clean 80# – wanted to go heavier but got stuck at 75# for 2 rounds so settled on 80. Still a PR for me by 2 lbs!!
Wattage: 348 – holy cow Eric!!
Pull up – tried a strict pullup – didn’t make it – can’t kip due to shoulder, did weighted negatives with a 35# db and have interesting bruises to show for it!

Power Clean: felt good 3rd set was 185×3 but couldn’t maintain it for sets 4&5. Dropped down 20 pounds to get technique down better.

Wattage: 767 kept pulling myself right off the seat….I blame slippery shorts.

    Pull-Up: 270 failed on 275

    @brendan
absolutely agreed Rich! 115# PC PR, I think it was 528 watts–may have been a little more, and 15# weighted blue pullup. Have my kips, but gonna get my strict sooner or later, hopefully when my shoulder really heals!
and thx Coach Brad for a great WOD! Great motivation and encouragement, definitely got me fired up on rowing :)

I loved this wod, the excitement in the gym was awesome, and the noise level to match! I was unsure how this would go as I was coming off 3 days vacation and poor food choices, but it was great! My last PR for clean was 1 x 125,
    3 x 130#
449 watts (rowing is my nemesis)
    150# strict pullup
