Interesting article, thanks MLC. I actually have read the book only I found it way too detailed for me. I’m just not that interested in all the details. For me, the Paleo way of eating has made me more aware of what I’m eating and I feel a million times better. It’s an interesting debate but I try to avoid it…especially with family & friends. What I don’t like is the word “diet”. Other people automatically think its a trendy diet and I just think of it as making healthier food choices.

Following is an example of why I don’t want to discuss it with family & friends:

I recently had an incident with one of my eyes – after sitting in emergency for 6hrs the root of the problem was not found. Automatically, my mother proceded to blame my new “diet” for the reaction. Her exact words: “well your eating all that meat now!”…I almost died when I hear her say that. It frustrates me to end how people have been programmed to think a certain way. In her mind, all the protein I’m eating must be raising my cholesteral levels, blah, blah, blah…and somehow made my eye blow up to the size of a golf ball!

So quick to judge and ready to blame…if I’m not eating food groups my Mom thinks I should be eating…somehow…it must be bad for me!

Hope you got a chukkle out of my story.

I hear ya on the no discussion with family, Sunshine. Sometimes it’s just better to keep the mouth shut.

Supper was a chef’s salad with chicken.

I loved the article and passed it on to my marathoner friend who commented in reference to our paleo choice “but that can’t be good for you in the long run!” who is a mega carb loader in all senses.

Tonight I am making Grilled Chicken Club Salad with Guacamole Dressing. A co-worker gave me this recepe today and said “I think you can even eat all these ingredients!” and sure enough I can, very excited!

@Mandy can you please post your squash patty recipe? I’m getting too lost trying to find it in the maze of posts!
