Throughout our lives we have been taught low fat, whole grains and count those calories. Yet, if this was the way to eat why is our health care system so taxed? Why is obesity an epidemic? Why is diabetes on the rise?

Dinner tonight: “spaghetti sauce” on cauliflower with spinach salad
March 3, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Road trip to Canmore for my sister’s wedding! Leaving tonight and back Monday…I will miss CFW but I will bring my new rope and come up with some sweaty ‘hotel room wods’. Running outside will be amazing too!!
Madeleine “Madhouse” will be there too so her and I will try to eat as clean as possible and cfit a few times on top of a little snowboarding (skiing for Madhouse).
Hardest part will be food, of course…no comfort/reliance of your own kitchen and your own fridge – eek! Staying at a beautiful B&B, hoping there is a lot of choice.
Have a great wk & wkd… see you next week!

@Smokey Jo
Have a great time to both you and Madeleine!
@Jodi
Your post from yesterday hit a note with me. I was doing really well for the first part of this challenge and somehow got a little derailed. I say “little” because I am still eating way healthier than before but have been “cheating” a little. I agree though that this is lifestyle and will take a while to conquer and fine tune. I think when we get derailed and feel crappy it just reinforced that we are on the right track and makes me more determined to stay on the right track. Hopefully getting off track will happen less and less.
Dinner tonight is spaghetti squash and meat sauce. I will either make a salad or veggie to go with that.

pork tenderloin and salad. It ain’t pretty but it works. I have also found that staying away from the “bad” stuff has been harder lately then it was when we first started this challenge. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who finds it tough. I have been for the most part been able to find other things to do when I want to cheat. Whatever or whenever the cravings strike, you have to create your own mechanisms for beating them. I know I’ve come along way and I’m not about to ruin it now by resting on my accomplishments. I can be better, and I will be better then yesterday!

Dinner was sausages from Millers… and some grapes. This is our go to meal (not the grapes part) when we are strapped for time. And they are delicious!
On a side note… I sent my mom and sis the link so they could read on the butter vs. margarine… since they are margarine junkies. I got a ‘yeah, yeah I’m still eating margarine’ and ‘it’s going to take a lot more to convert us’. Oh vey. Like talking to a brick wall! lol

Dinner tonight chicken, veggies and salad. Cravings are pretty bad at times for bread and sugar. But I know that I have to try and beat them. Reading all of your blogs certainly helps. I did notice that sometimes they are really bad when I have not had enough fats in my diet. When I up them they seem to be better.

dinner: chicken, veggie soup made from crock pot left overs. blueberries, apple.

Dinner: Chicken breast, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms and some almonds
The article made a lot of sense. It’s a very logical approach to these types of choices and I have had similar comments – “margarine is one chemical away from plastic” – frequently.
Interesting story though a while ago at superstore this 80 year old man saw me buying omega-3 eggs. He looked at the price and asked me why my eggs were so much more and i gave him the rundown saying they had more healthy fats in the yolks. And he basically said what this article told us – “I’ve been eating these regular kind for 80 years and I’m still running just fine”. I suppose I am a bit curious why we are encouraged to eat these types of eggs if the whole diet is pushing natural choices.

My Dinner tonight sucked….I have some work stress and workouts have been a freaking mish mash tying to get my shoulder back in shape to get back to the box……
6 eggs, small handful of almonds back bacon and a zucchini.
I am DYING without my CFW workouts…… eating and CFW keep each other strong…..
