I never snack at school, its only meals between classes (I have found almost ANY food is noisy enough to turn heads in a classroom.) But one of my favorite snacks between meals (and this does go against "real food" if you don't do the protein powder thing) is to blend up an avocado with protein powder and really anything else (cocoa powder makes like...chocolate pudding)

Wow, I love all the banter, seriously! I was out to eat for both lunch and dinner, had a chicken cesaer salad, with the croutons, and a cobb type salad for dinner. It was a wierd day, 3 workouts and a trip out of town and two restaurant meals. I think I made the best choices in the circumstances. For snack (finally at home!) I made a butternut squash bake, BNS & eggs covered with pecans and some honey. Delish! Normally now by snacks consist of exactly what my meals do only smaller portions. I end up eating loads of salads, which I'm totaly fine with. I do eat alot of fruit too, but generally try to pair it with a leafy green or in a shake with whey and eggs. I do intend to splurge on a mango soon though, been really craving some serious fruit! I aggree with Erik, I realize that a mango or pineapple is high in fructose, but really, I'm choosing it over the big bowl of ice cream or double fudge brownie I would have choosen a few months ago, so every once in a while, I'm going to make that choice. I do eat nuts too, mostly pecans, my fav, but am trying to stay away from packing them in my lunch as it's a guarantee I eat them, I find that way I only eat them when I'm desperate for nuts. We eat the costco almond butter too. I like it on celery with a few raisins sprinkled down, yummy!

for sure the biggest art of healthy snacks is preparation. If I bring good snack in tupperware it's usually a good day. When I don't I go nuts because there are tons of junk around the hall and it becomes harder to obstain from it. Preparation is my saving grace.

I like Nuts as a snack......I think it is important to remember "why" you participated in the challenge. I originally entered to hold myself accountable, to share stories of success and difficulties with individuals with similar interests.

That being said choices are made every day. IF your goal is weight loss then copious amounts of nuts are going to hold you back.....BUT..... I would suggest that if a few too many nuts stops you from destroying yourself with a chocolate bar (or three) than that is a good "choice" and you can feel good about your decision.

One of the greatest things I have learned is that you have a "choice" and one bad decision isn;t the end of the world. I may choose to eat nuts instead of chips.....I now choose olive and almond oil instead of sunflower oil.....I choose blueberries and strawberries instead of candy......and my kids are making the choices as well...... My son has decided he LIKES BROCCOLI. My kids now ask for "muscle meat" all meat in our house is now prefixed woth the word "muscle" and both kids son and daughter understand are beginning to undestand the importance of muscle....

SO.....once again a bit of a mish mash diatribe but I am making better choices......thanks everyone for helping me along this path....

Kind Regards,

E.

had elk meat balls with red peppers broccoli and cauliflower for dinner and some berries for desert.....

It has been a bit of a tough recovery from my shoulder injury but should see everyone Tuesday....

Throw wings into a bowl with a lid and add 1.5 cups almond flour and other seasonings as you like. Put lid on bowl and shake until wings are coated. Add in hot sauce to taste and bake at 400 (convection oven works best) until wings are crispy (about 35 - 40 minutes). Once cooked wings can be reseasoned with hot sauce. Delicious!!

you can get them at sobey's frozen in the meat section $2.99 for a container. I just sautee them with mushrooms and onions and spice...one of my favorite paleo meals.

Snack today: beef jerky and frozen grapes.

Holy Cow Chris I hope you are talking about a small jar of almond butter! I like the almond butter that Costco sells and its WAY cheaper than Safeway or Sobeys.

Snack choices way to many nuts, almonds, walnuts, pecans. As Mike says if I eat them I usually eat way to many at a time or during the course of the day.

It’s easier if I have them packed in my food kit for the day cuz than at least I’ve put in a predetermined amount to probably go with an apple. I try to eat a max of 2 pcs of fruit per day probably at least 1 apple and maybe a pear or some berries although berries are pretty tough cuz if I’m having a snack it’s probably while I’m driving. I know I will eat more veggies in the summer time when there is actually fresh stuff available. I have a tough time with raw veggies in the winter.

Another snack option might be a pepperoni stick or veggies although I tend to eat my veggies with lunch or dinner. I try to eat my fruit earlier in the day rather than at nite after dinner.

I’m not eating HB eggs as snacks because I’m afraid I will get sick of eating eggs and that would suck! I want to get a dehydrator and make my own jerky. I probably eat a cliff builder bar almost everyday although I consider that more my 4th meal more so than a snack. Sometimes if things are just insane in the morning and I just can’t find the time for breaky the builder bar becomes my breaky. Goes pretty good with coffee :)
