    Oscar party, Suzanne, chocolate…I’m going to be awake all night!!!

    Broccoli is on sale this week, so I decided to make broccoli salad as a snack. People here seem to eat raisins and I have never liked them but thought I’d give them a try as an “adult”…the golden ones aren’t too bad. My salad is broccoli, golden raisins, walnuts, dried cranberries, hardboiled eggs, and homemade mayo. I cannot believe I haven’t been making my own mayo this whole time! (I haven’t been eating any since the storebought stuff is full of hydrogenated oils) I even whisked it myself, those DUs payoff in the kitchen :) I am def adding all sorts of homemade mayos to my repretoire, yum.

    @Chris Larabar is a 100% paleo packaged snack. It’s made of dried fruit and nuts and no other ingredients, no preservatives, no additives no sugar. There are many different flavors, most of them have dates and almonds a few have cashews (if you are avoiding legumes skip the cashew one. My fav is the Key Lime pie, and the Cherry pie delish! ALthough they are high in carbs as they are mostly dried fruit, which if you are trying to slim down, you should limit both dried fruit and nuts. I buy a case (12) at costco, but you can buy individual at MEC, Superstore, and most health stores, they run around $2 each, the cheapest at Costco $1.25 and most expesive at Sunrise Health for 2.99. I’ve been meaning to try and make my own version, someday when I have time!

    I want a jerky maker too!

    @Chris
    Larabar are paleo and pretty good quality as far as bars to, but just remember your objectives. If you are looking to lean out and become more insulin sensitive, keep in mind that that although they don’t have any ADDED sugar they are quite high in sugar naturally and offer little protein so plan accordingly and use them smartly

    Along the lines of the Larabar discussion. I tried some from Costco once and besides the annoyance that of the 3 flavours they give you, 2 contain cashews which are not strict paleo (and one is a “cashew” flavored bar…) they were pretty decent!

    Son of Grok posted a review of them as well as his own, lower sugar version which look pretty good!

    I think you can also make jerky quite healthfully with a food dehydrator, one of which I have but I have not used yet for jerky as it’s at my old place but…oh, the possibilities!
