March 10th, 2010
The challenge ends on Sunday, March 14th. After that, you have a few more days to send in your AFTER pics along with your mini-essay.
McClean’s does an article on the paleo lifestyle, and it even mentions CrossFit.
Please post snacks to comments.

To read “The challenge ends on Sunday…” seems deceiving…to me the challenge has just began and I’m embarking on a lifetime journey. I don’t want to forget everything I’ve learnt over the last few months. I would love to continue seeing a weekly nutritional post on the site.
Just finished eating a hard boiled egg & snap peas. I’m just starting to notice that I’m not starving at 10am anymore like I used to. I’m almost OK to last till lunch time but not quite; will still incorporate an am snack but smaller portion.
Snack: pork skewer, celery
Agreed, i feel like I am just begining to master this and I would love to see the post/support continue.
today will be a challenging day – will have to consciously carve out time to eat today or its not going to happen….
Tania, I have been eating alot of tomatoes lately. I now realize that they are considered a night shade veggie. Should I be cutting them out. Your thoughts. Thanks
Hi all, we’ll definitely keep posting nutritional info and we’ll probably have more challenges.
@Daryl C
I recommend cutting them out for a while and then re-introducing them and seeing how you feel. There are certain conditions that can be aggravated by them, but if you’re not sensitive to them then keep eating them.
Cut out tomatoes?! Crushed tomatoes are my new best friend I can’t give ‘em up yet, we just met.
Snacks – 1 clementine, 1 apple, 1 banana and some pumpkin seeds. I really don’t need the snacks cause I’m hungry… just eat ‘em cause I sit at a desk and it breaks up the monotony of the day.
Snacks – apple, pork tenderloin. Almonds. Blueberries w/coconut milk & protein powder.
@Sunshine
I agree, the challenge will be to keep going now that the official challenge is over. This is definitely a lifestyle now.
Have a few thoughts to share on the challenge and wanted to be quite candid about what I learnt. I haven’t posted much lately and wanted to be clear that it’s no reflection on the program or its coaches, this is such a great challenge for many to learn a cleaner way of eating! Thx to Turbo and MLC for bringing this in and supporting us members through this new adventure.
Paleo is not new for me, this is how I’ve been eating for a while, I have eaten more strictly before, and just needed a kick in the pants to do it more often than not.
unfortunately, over the last few weeks I have gone through some personal struggles that have been hard on my emotional psyche, so I turn to food still for comfort. That, in turn, has gotten me to stray from paleo all in my own faults, I don’t deny that, and not all the time but definitely more often than I regularly do. I’ve learnt not to get down on myself for doing s–which is a change for me, and a positive one at that–so I decided to observe what it is that happens when I stray this much and learn what my tolerances are. Some things that have happened are: I’ve broken out (ugh!), which I haven’t had happen in FOREVER since eating paleo-style real food. I’ve retained a bit more water after a week of less-paleo friendly eating, but won’t retain when I have the odd snack/food just a couple days in a row. And oh lordy how my energy levels have dipped! The joy of learning how to eat paleo for me was that I got my normal energy levels back because my then sensitive-sluggish system was working in overdrive. Also, when I eat something not so great, I notice inflammation in the form of my stomach feeling indigestion or burning, which is an uncomfortable feeling when training! hate that.
I most likely won’t be high up in the race for “top real fooder” at the gym this time round, but at least I’ve got a reason to eat better than just “I have to” and have tested and now know my limits. To be aware that I’m better off following this kind of lifestyle really helps me as well.
I have yet to cut out nuts and create better snacks when I do have a snack, but for me, baby steps is what I can manage.
Really…..my dinner tonight is a big bag of chicken meat…..night shift sucks
Eric
snack: fruit and coconut milk
I just made zuchini boats for dinner tonight…yummy! stuffed with hot italian sausage & coconut milk…def a redo…recipe is available online at Paleo Mama.
Agreed… the REAL challenge starts on Sunday when I start to continue eating healthy for the rest of my life. 8 weeks is just a drop in the bucket compared to a lifetime but having said that, 8 weeks is long enough to form a habit. If we have truely decided to stick with this lifestyle and continue to make better, healthier choices we will reap the benefits for as long as we continue our new habits and stay away from our old ones. Good luck everyone! Tanya, For those who have completed the challenge we might need to have a support blog set up to make sure everyone stays on the straight and narrow. :O)
Veggies, blueberries, an apple, some sausage as snacks today.
snacks – apple, avocado, sesame seeds, no nuts today!, and this http://bodyforlife-chris.blogspot.com/2010/03/blood-pressure-representwhat-what.html
snap peas made the snack list today, piece of pineapple with a few almonds.

I must agree that continued support would be great. I have recently noticed that certain carbs I used to crave…don’t appeal to me as much anymore. I love the boost in energy level. I’m also sleeping better at night. I just finished a late night soccer game & was able to play pretty much the whole game with energy to spare.
I’ve been missing these for a while now! I usually found them under “upcoming events” on the right but the new on-ramp classes pushed it out I guess. I thought they might have stopped or something!
I had a snackless day yesterday again. I have found it hard to have a balanced snack (save maybe boiled eggs and some raw veggies) and my meals are pretty bare bones right now so I just eat those more frequently
