There was a great quote on the main site today that I thought I would share:
If everything seems under control, you’re just not going fast enough.”

Speaking of quotes…There have been many comments lately about the difficulty in the workouts. I agree, sometimes I not only feel physically exhausted but mentally as well. All of us have occasions when we’re feeling run down, beaten up and disappointed in our times, but we need to remember that there are more important things to consider; this type of training builds integrity, and mental toughness. The desire to ‘snit’ might be strong during those less than optimal training days (or even weeks) but once the time passes (as it always does), will you be able to look at “the man in the glass” and know that you trained with intensity AND integrity?
Not quitting or cheating will carry us further in the long run than any instant recognition received for posting a time or score that was not truly achieved. Without standards and honesty, this type of training, and all it builds, means nothing. When we cheat, there is only one person we are cheating, ourself.
My mom has this one on her fridge and I have always liked it.
The Man in the Glass
When you get what you want in your struggles for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn’t your father or mother or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass,
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people might think you’re a straight-shooting chum
And call you a wonderful guy
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.
He’s the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he’s with you clear to the end
And you’ve passed your most dangerous test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.

Wow, that’s profound, love it.
New PR on the C$J! 85×5 95×5 105×5
How much are those Doowin shoes?? And does anyone have a size 8 I could try before buying, or is there a store in wpg?
March 9, 2010 at 10:43 am
@Kimberly
go to http://www.weightliftingshoes.ca/ and check the contact info for Joe. He sells them out of his house. Pascal and I just picked em up last week and they make a big difference. I think they were $110.
5RM C&J this AM @ 185#
back this evening for rowing and SDLHP……..

@MLC
that’s a great one!
I saw one today on another “fitness” site….
“Go ahead, quit anytime, nobody will know. Except you”
March 9, 2010 at 2:00 pm
5RM C&J 105#. I’d have liked to try 115, but I was not working in an ideal environment. I had no chalk and was unable to drop the weights and the plates were little, so I did all five without releasing the bar. But I’m happy that I got it done.

@BRad
Kim, Let me know if your getting..I’m thinking of picking some up….
@BRad
Good quote brother…
Here is one of my favorites….
” ” (I wrote it in Ninja so you may not be able to read it)…..it echoes much the same as yours and MLC’s…
Looking forward to the second WOD

@Ninja
I will let you know…I’ve spent about the same amount on far more frivolous things, like heels I wear once a month, so why not weight shoes I’ll wear more often
Came across this article today…

Great inspiration MLC. The temptation to quit is great sometimes but the satisfaction of finishing is greater.
5RM C&J 80#. Heaviest for me so far!
March 9, 2010 at 4:56 pm
Part 1:
5×130, got 135 for 4.5, missed the jerk
Part 2:
20.36
March 9, 2010 at 6:26 pm
Did part 2 only: 20:49 Rx’d
All I got to say is SF!!!!
March 9, 2010 at 8:13 pm
Part 1 – 185#
Part 2 – 20:32 rx’d. What a day!
March 9, 2010 at 8:15 pm
@Derek
Definite SF!!
March 9, 2010 at 8:55 pm
Part 1: 175×5 (PC+J)…these were pretty easy, so I got a bit overzealous…195x3x3 attempts…failed on 4th rep of each attempt…power cleaned the weight when I should have been squat cleaning it…technique got sloppy as hell…needed more extension on second pull…didn’t focus on third pull nearly enough…let the bar get away from me too…O-lifting still needs work…jerks presented no problems…what the jerks taught me today, however, is not to get complacent with the weight just because it’s (relatively) light (I did this and ended up pressing the weight out a bit on a couple of jerks…not cool!)
despite my initial frustration today, in general, I feel more confident every time I lift…
part 2:
19:24 rx’d…rows all went to according to plan, SDLHP not so much…they were strong but broken…had a plan going in, but underestimated SDLHP…great WOD!
March 9, 2010 at 8:56 pm
WOD 2 close to SF status, but not quite!
March 9, 2010 at 9:09 pm
@stephen
SF will be back tomorrow for the KBS
March 9, 2010 at 9:48 pm
I don’t know for sure if it was a SF but if not I don’t want a SF
,
195×5 clean and jerk, 10lbs heavier than my target weight today so I was pmped.I agree its important to concentrate on every rep even if you think the jerk is easy!
19:4? For part 2, thanks for the pace Rabbit Stephan cause I was completly gased and wanted to rest a whole lot more!!
March 9, 2010 at 10:25 pm
Norm and Stephen killed WOD 2! It was a good one to watch. Both where pushing it right to the end and it was neck and neck stepping off the last 500m row. Way to throw up some great times.
I only did WOD 2 today but was happy with my 20:27 rx’d time. I thought that I was going to have a harder time with the SDLHP’s & SF but pacing myself was key. Great WOD. Next time I am gunning to beat Stephen. Watch out Explicit!

Yay! PR for me, 105# for 5 rep C&J–same weight sequence as Kimberly. Haven’t been able to do overhead bar ANYTHING for a while, so this was awesome! second workout with bar overhead after last week’s C&J technique rally WOD.
