ON RAMP #41 starts – SOLD OUT!

On Ramp Session #40 starts Monday, July 18th:  Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00PM to 6:00PM for 4 weeks. Our basic On Ramp program is designed for the generally active, injury free individual who wants ultimately to train in one of our ongoing group classes.  This 12-hour small group program is an “on-ramp” to the “highway” that is CrossFit. In this class we will expose new members to our movement curriculum in a group format.  Classes are limited to 6 athletes per coach.  We will emphasize movement techniques, along with a progressive introduction to the intensity levels that are inherent in our group classes.  If you are unsure as to whether you are a good candidate for beginning in a class setting, please contact us.

Click here to see when the next On Ramp class starts and to reserve your spot or download the registration form and return with payment to CrossFit Winnipeg via email, fax, or in person.!  $150 for 12 hours of group training.

Thursday, June 23rd at 7PM, CFW is hosting a free information session on how to reduce your exposure to toxins for better health.  We will provide some information on what to watch out for in your diet, the environment and the products you use in your home and on your body every day.  We will also have a guest speaker, Dr. Suzanne Buffie who will help us to understand product labels, what to avoid and what to look for in household and personal care products.

The idea for this event came about when we noticed that our members often ask for recommendations on what products to use to avoid toxic chemicals in their day to day lives.  We often give some general recommendations and give clients tools and resources so they can choose for themselves.

In our search for “clean” products, we’ve tried many, many products and only a few of them really stood out and we’ve decided to make them available to members of CFW who are interested.  So after the info session, we will have some personal care products from from Miessence and Olivier available for you to look at.   Feel free to just come for the info session, we don’t want anyone to feel obligated to try any of the products…

The session is free, and all CFW members and clients are welcome, along with any guests you may want to bring.

2011 CrossFit Games

The 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games will be held at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California for the second consecutive year. The ultimate test begins on Friday, July 29th and doesn’t stop until Sunday, July 31st.

At the center of the arena, the Games competitors will have to prove that they are not only fit but capable of handling the unknown. No one knows what the events will be. Every year the events are different. The best movements to test for fitness are a combination of gymnastics, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, jumping rope, climbing ropes, lengthy runs, and a vast amount of pure grunt work such as getting sandbags over a wall. But athletes never know what is required. In 2008, there was the hill. In 2009, there was the spike drive. In 2010, athletes had to do ring handstand push-ups and clear the 12-foot wall.
Only one thing is certain, each athlete will be thoroughly tested on their journey to be named the fittest man and fittest woman on Earth.

Fans from around the world will be able to keep up through our constant coverage and live streaming of the events. Click here to watch!

On Ramp Session #39 starts Thursday, June 9th: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00PM to 7:00PM for 4 weeks. Our On Ramp class is a precursor to our on-going CrossFit Classes. This one-month, 12-class program is an “on-ramp” to the “highway” that is CrossFit. We will train proper exercise mechanics and techniques at relatively light loads. You will become consistent with those mechanics under the watchful eye of our coaches. Finally, you will learn how to bring up the intensity to increase your work capacity. We will be showing you movements in the beginning that are relatively non-technical, then progressively become more technical. All new members must complete the On Ramp program or a series of personal training sessions before joining our ongoing CrossFit Classes.

$150 + GST for all 12 classes. Register online or download the registration form and return with payment to CrossFit Winnipeg via email, fax, or in person.
