As of today, you can register on the CrossFit Game site and create an individual profile for a small fee. CrossFit Winnipeg will be giving all our members the opportunity to compete and be part of a monumental wordwide event. We’ll be creating a CrossFit Winnipeg Team and we’ll let you know once that’s ready to go.
The CrossFit Games season is a three-stage test of fitness. It is comprised of the Open, Regionals, and the world championship, the CrossFit Games.
The season kicks off with the Open, the most inclusive competition in the world. The top athletes and teams in each region from the Open will move onto Regionals. The best athletes and teams at Regionals will compete at the CrossFit Games from July 13-15, the world’s premier test to find the Fittest on Earth™.
Click HERE to see a detailed explanation of the Games season for Individual athletes, teams, and Masters.
For those interested in competing, the Open starts on February 22nd, with one WOD per week from February 22-March 25. Events will be announced on Wednesday of each week and we’ll have until Sunday to post scores. We’d like to try to incorporate the workouts into the regular programming, but we’ll have one or 2 official timeslots where athletes can have their WOD officially judged and scored by CFW. Most likely we will not be charging any additional fees for judging and rep counting, however, if we have a lot of competitors, you may be asked to partner up and count your partner’s reps.
Please post to comments when you would prefer to compete. Options are Friday evening, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning…
Congrats to everyone who participated in the Benchmark Elizabeth Challenge. We saw some awesome improvements in everyone’s times!
We originally wanted to give a prize for each category but since some categories only had a few athletes, we’ve decided to look at overall improvement and give prizes to Most Improved Male and Most Improved Female.
And the winners are…
Nelson Dueck – Went from 20:24 to 12:45
Victoria Taylor – Went from 12:10 to 5:31
Both athlete shaved about 7 minutes off their original times!
Our winners will each receive a check for $100!!!
Honourable mention goes to Amanda White, Amy Kroeker, who both shaved over 3 minutes off their times, as well as Darren Champagne and Quinn Taylor, who both rx’d the wod putting up some good times.

2010 Challenge date is set
As the 2010 CrossFit Games wind down in California, we are getting ready for the 2nd annual Saskatchewan CrossFit Challenge in Saskatoon this Fall.
When: Saturday, September 18, 2010.
Where: CrossFit Saskatoon.
What: A fitness event of competition and camaraderie for men and women of all abilities and fitness levels.
Last year was a great success with over 80 athletes competing and over 100 spectators enjoying the event. The 2010 event promises to be even better and we are shooting for over 100 athletes and over 175 spectators!
Speaking of last years Challenge, we received many compliments. Here is how one group felt:
“I just wanted to send you a big shout out for all of your hard work with the Saskatchewan CrossFit Challenge. Our CrossFit folks had a great time and they came back invigorated by their experiences. I also would like to compliment you on making the beginners feel so welcome. It was so great to see the three different divisions. Bravo to you!”.
Be sure to check back here often as more details will be following.
A.

- evening prime time class
With a 10:00 time limit, row 2000m and complete AMRAP double unders. (this workout is from the Big Dawgs Championship Series… yes it’s super tight on the time limit for some of you - just do your absolute best… and yes, you should probably push for a PR 2k row)…
B.
Half tabata mountain climbers
Tabata Single leg glute bridge (alternate legs each round)*
Half tabata grasshoppers
Tabata N-ups
* Glute bridges will be at a slower tempo to be done correctly. Aim for 3-4 controlled reps per round. Learn to activate your glute vs. arch your back.
Big Dawgs Championship Series Participants
Make sure you have access to facility for all workouts. It would be a REALLY good idea to show up during the morning classes to start your workouts if you don’t have everything figured out yet. Workouts and workout rules are posted here:
