Hi Everyone!

Lots of news, in fact so many things to tell you that I had to write an entire separate page for it….

NEW LOCATION

First, click here to see a map of the area around our new facility.  This map indicates where our building is located on the north end of the Arnold Bros. premises.  It also indicates where to enter and where to park.  This is where we are going as of Friday morning!

Our new mailing address, in all its glory is:

CrossFit Winnipeg Inc.

Unit #1, North Building

739 Lagimodiere Blvd.

Winnipeg, MB

R2J 0T8

OLY CLASS WED NIGHT

One more item of note: I indicated in my last email that that we would cancel Mobility and Oly classes on Wednesday night, but Harvey in all his awesomeness has been kind enough to offer to find some space in the main room on Wed night at 6pm for his Oly regulars, or for anyone who wants to join in for some Oly tech work.  The timing is perfect because we will be going for max Snatch and Clean & Jerk for our first workout in the new place on Friday.

BEFORE THE MOVE

Don’t forget to pick up any stuff you may have left at the Des Meurons location, and sign the box and check out the lost and found to see if you have any belongings in there.

FROSTFIT

FrostFit Registration is up and running here.  We’ve been having a few technical difficulties with the pricing and the system not asking for your division and T-Shirt size.  We’ve fixed the pricing glitch so that members can compete for $55 and non members for $75.  The T-Shirt size and Division problem hasn’t been solved yet, but you can still sign up and we’ll have our staff call you for this information.

Modown Throwdown

November 26th, 2011 1 comment

The CrossFit Winnipeg Movember Team has raised over $800 for Prostate Cancer Canada!  So to wind down the month, we’ll be hosting mustached wod on Tuesday, November 29th in the evening…  The Modown Throwdown  (I totally stole the name from our friends over at CrossFit Toronto)

We’re thinking 5PM, 6PM and 7PM classes, as this is when most of our Movember staches come out to play.  We’ll have a few extra mustaches on hand and we hope you’ll all to wear them for the wod.  Photos will be taken and likely posted on the website and facebook, so get your hair did and come out for a fun wod.  Our CFW team members are still accepting donations at:

Big News!!!!

The New CFW

It’s official, CFW is getting bigger and better!!!

CrossFit Winnipeg will be moving into a new facility located at 739 Lagimodiere Blvd,  just north of Fermor in December.  The new space is less than 10 minutes from our current location, and easily accessible from virtually any part of the city.

You will love the new space; which includes a huge warehouse with 19 foot ceilings, over-sized garage doors we can open up in the summer, a lounge, a personal training area, classrooms, offices, lots of outdoor space and parking – we have it all.  Best of all, we have the building all to ourselves.  Along with the new space will come new classes, seminars and services, along with some new toys to play with.  It’s going to be a real playground!

Moving day is scheduled for Thursday, December 1st, 2011.  Yep, that’s next week, folks!  We’ve actually just confirmed the details ourselves and wanted to let you know as soon as it was official.

It will be business as usual, with the exception of moving day.  Regular classes will be cancelled for 1 day only, Thursday, December 1st.  We’ll be contacting our CrossFit Kids and On Ramp classes to discuss how this will impact classes.  We hope the move won’t cause any inconvenience for you next week, and I’m confident that you’ll survive for 1 day without your workout fix! :-)

If you have any clothing or other personal possessions at the gym, we ask that your remove them by Monday, November 28th.  Anything remaining at the gym will be donated to charity.  This includes shoes, clothing and water bottles.  Let’s face it, we have enough equipment to move without having to lug your stuff around!  Don’t worry, we have some great ideas for storing your belongings in our new members’ lounge at the new facility!

We are so excited to be able to expand into this great new space and would like to express our gratitude to loyal members who have made this all possible.

THANK YOU!

Love,

Coach Turbo

on behalf of all CFW staff

Canada Day Team Workout

CrossFit Winnipeg is CLOSED on Canada Day (July 1). However, we will be hosting a “Team Workout” at Westview Park (aka “Garbage Hill”) at 9:30AM for anyone interested. Team workouts are designed to be fun and challenging. You will be teamed with at least one other individual to go through whatever challenges the coaches think might be fun to watch you do. It’s interesting how having teammates teaches you a thing or two about intensity. Important: if location is changed, we will update the web site by 8:30 PM on June 30.

Primal Blueprint Book

Irene ‘SuperBean’ Sas has ordered several Primal Blueprint books by marksdailyapple.com‘s Mark Sisson.  She has 2  additional copies available for purchase for those who are interested. It’s so new it was published in April 2009, and it’s a great beginner’s guide to the primal/paleo way of eating.  She is expecting the price to be about $30 after they arrive, but could be a little less.  She is hoping to have them in 2 weeks.  If you are interested let Super Bean or Tania know.

Kick Butt 5K for Charity

Here’s another 5K event, organized in honour MLC’s neighbour, who passed away from colorectal cancer earlier this year.

KICK BUTT #2 FOR COLORECTAL CANCER

SATURDAY, SEPT 12/09

10:00AM KILDONAN PARK

It turned into the surprise fundraiser last year. 230 (we were

thinking 100) participated. $25,000.00 (an optimistic $15,000.00

was the goal) raised for the work of the Colorectal Cancer

Association of Canada (CCAC) in Manitoba.

The 3K/5K walk/run returns this year along with the SILENT

AUCTION, JOE BOXER BUTT cover contest, and more!

Check out our new web site www.kickbuttrun.com. And be sure

to follow the links to the CCAC site and fund raising events to

register or donate.

LAST CHANCE!

We’re getting the T-shirts made this week, so this is a last chance to post your ideas and votes.

Some of the slogans we suggested were more popular than others, and a lot of you posted some great new ideas.

Please review the June 14th comments and let us know your top 3 choices.  You can also post your vote or ideas on the corkboard at the gym.
