T-Shirt Slogan Contest

btshirtAlright, it’s about time we get some CrossFit Winnipeg T-shirts made.  The question is: what do we put on them?  Since I’m not the creative type, I’m going to let you guys do the work.  Here are a few to get you started.  Please let us know if you like any of these and post any new ideas you might have.  If you come up with the winning slogan, you get a free t-shirt.

Field Trip!

Mark June 24th on your calendars!  Ashleigh, our resident waterski expert, is volunteering her time and expertise to take us waterskiing.  We’ll be going to Lake Shirley on Murdock Road the afternoon/evening of Wednesday, June 24th.  We’ll keep you posted on exact cost and times.  We will most likely have a sign up sheet where you can reserve your time slot.  No worries if you’ve never done this before, Ash has plenty of experience teaching everyone from beginners to experts.

5km Run

The best way to push yourself to hit a personal best in a 5k effort is to compete. This is for all CrossFit Winnipeg athletes who are able to run. We’d love to see a lot of people get together to try this out.

Post your thoughts on these possibilities for getting together for a run + brunch.

Pace Setter 5k Prediction Race
Saturday, July 4th, Start 9:00 a.m.
St. Vital Park, Winnipeg, MB.
In a Prediction Race, no one is allowed to wear a watch and there will be no clock on route or visible at the finish line.

OR

Run with Porter 5k Fun Run/Walk
Sat., August 15, 2009 9:00 a.m. Start
Birds Hill Park/Pine Ridge Trail

OR

We do our own thing sometime in July or August.

We are in our new space!

When you come by to visit or train, park the parking lot at the back of the building and then enter through the big glass doors. There is no signage yet.

It’s official

Thanks to everyone who came out to help us move the equipment from United Boxing to the new location.  Unfortunately, the painters are still putting the finishing touches on the paint job so we’ll be working out in a smaller temporary space until the painting and flooring is done, which should be in the next couple of days.  The temporary space is at the front of the building.  You can either park at the front, side or back and we’ll have signs up and people to show you around.

Almost Ready

The new gym is almost ready.  We now have four walls, doors and a floor.  Well, actually the rubber flooring is still sitting in a big pile in the middle of the gym, just waiting to be laid out.  The showers and changerooms are being built and the main area will be painted this weekend.  For all our existing members at River City CrossFit, the moving of equipment will take place Wednesday and Thursday.  The first workout in the new gym at CrossFit Winnipeg will be Friday morning, May 1st.  I’ll let you know if the showers will be ready by then.  Can’t wait to see you there!

Opening May 1st

CrossFit Winnipeg is opening May 1st, 2009 at 420 Des Meurons.  It’s just around the corner and we’re rediculously busy getting the gym ready.  This site is still under construction, so please come back soon for some real content.  In the meantime, contact us to schedule your first workout.
